Confession: Psalm 46

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Our God is ever aware of our problems and fears.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

We have no business doubting him no matter what threatens us.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

His eternal plan is not cancelled out by the whims of man or natural disasters.

Come and see the works of our Lord, the desolations he has brought on the earth.

He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire.

Refresh your flagging spirits with the reminder of his great feats throughout the ages.

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Lord, forgive us for all that we have done, said, or thought that was against your will. Have mercy on us for our flesh is weak. Guide us by your Spirit that we may live as your disciples; faithfully loving you and our neighbor as our self. Let your love and forgiveness shine through us to others that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in Heaven and JEsus Christ our Savior.
