ONLINE WORSHIP:
Invocation
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Confession & Absolution
O God, our Father, You have shown us how we were created to live in the commandments You gave through Moses and in the holy life of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We confess with shame how slow we are to learn the wisdom of Your Word and our failure to follow Christ. Have mercy on us and forgive us, O Lord.
For the sake of Your Son Jesus, forgive us all that distracts us from worship, our neglect of the fellowship of Your Table, our faltering witness for Christ, our failure to love and serve our neighbor, and how we have squandered Your gifts and blessings.
Have mercy on us and forgive us, O Lord. Because Jesus died for us, forgive us for taking Your love and failing to love others as You have loved us.
For our quickness to judge and condemn others, and our slowness to forgive as we have been forgiven, have mercy on us and forgive us, O Lord.
Have mercy on us, O Lord, for we are sinful and unclean.
We cannot free ourselves from the bondage sin has created and from the lies that compete for Your truth. Have mercy on us and forgive us, O Lord; according to Your steadfast mercy blot out our transgressions.
Wash us clean from our sin and its guilt and make us new through forgiveness, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
God is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. For the sake of Jesus Christ and His atoning death, He has forgiven our sins and made us whole again. As a call and ordained servant of the Word, in the stead and by the command of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
May He who began this good work in you bring it to completion on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy 8:10-18
When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
He led you through the vast and dreadful desert, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. He gave you manna to eat in the desert, something your fathers had never known, to humble and to test you so that in the end it might go well with you. You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.
Philippians 4:4-9 With Thanksgiving
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand, do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me - practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Luke 17:11-19 Jesus Cleanses Ten Lepers
On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?”
