CHRIST IS RISEN!

HE IS RISEN, INDEED!

Psalm 118 - Responsive Reading:

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.”

Let the house of Aaron say: “His love endures forever.”

Let those who fear the LORD say: “His love endures forever.”

In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free.

The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies.

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.

All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

They swarmed around me like bees, but they died out as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

I was pushed back and about to fall, ut the LORD helped me.

The LORD is my strength and my son; he has become my salvation. Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous:

“The LORD’S right hand has done mighty things! The LORD’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”

I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done.

The LORD has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death.

Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the LORD. This is the gate of the LORD through which the righteous may enter.

I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation.

The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

O LORD, save us; O LORD, grant us success.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD.

From the house of the LORD we bless you. The LORD is God, and he has made his light shine upon us.

With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar.

You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Verse 1:

Jesus Christ is ris’n today, Alleluia!

Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!

Who did once upon to cross, Alleluia!

Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Verse 2:

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!

Unto Christ, our heav’nly king, Alleluia!

Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!

Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Verse 3:

But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!

Our salvation have procured; Alleluia!

Now above the sky He’s king, Alleluia!

Where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

Confession of Sins:

O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth will declare your praise. (Ps 51:15)

Make haste, O God, to deliver me; Make haste to help me, O Lord. (Ps 70:1)

In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (Mt 28:19)

Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. (Ps 124:8)

If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, therefore you are feared. (Ps 130:3-4)

Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean and that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed. We have sinned against you in what we have done and in what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart nor have we loved our neighbor as ourselves. We deserve your present and eternal punishment but, in Christ, you have loved us with an everlasting love. For the sake of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, have mercy upon us and forgive us all our sins. By the Holy Spirit renew and lead us so that we may delight in your will and walk in your light. Amen. (1 John 1:8-9)

To all who trust in Christ alone for forgiveness, God promises pardon, peace and eternal life.

Colossians 3:1-4 Put on the New Self

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Matthew 28: 1-10 The Resurrection

Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
