Confession: Psalm 62

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken.

I may change my views about many things; but my need for God and his love shall never change.

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.

There are many who would like to sabotage our deepest convictions.

With the skillful use of words and logic they try to destroy the very foundations of our faith.

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken.

The temporal values that we focus on are so quickly lost amidst the tempests of this life.

Our highest aspirations burst forth like bright flares, only to fizzle out like wet fuses.

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken.

God offers the security that is eternal.

It cannot be logically defined, but it can be experienced.

We come humbly into your presence, O Lord, aware of our unworthiness.

We confess to you that we have fallen short of your gory. We admit to you that we have not loved you with our whole heart, strength, and mind; nor have we loved our neighbors as ourselves. We plead for your mercy not because of any strength within us but because of what our Savior Jesus Christ did for us when he suffered and died on the cross.

We are bold to ask for your pardon and to claim his victory over sin, death, and the devil. We seek the peace that the world cannot give that can only come from faith in the risen Savior, Jesus Christ.

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will not be shaken.

My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
