Introit: Proverbs 31:10-31 The Wife of Noble Character

אֵ A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

בָּ Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.

גְּ    She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

ד  She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.

הָ    She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.

וַ    She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls.

זָ    She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

חָ     She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.

טָ    She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.

יָ    In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

כַּ    She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

ל    When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

מַ   She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

נ    Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

סָ    She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.

עֹ    She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

פִּ    She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

צ    She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

קָ    Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

רַ     Many women do noble things, but you surpass then all.

שֶׁ    Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

תְּ    Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

The Confession of Sins:

Beloved in the Lord, let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins to God our Father, imploring him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,

and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Almighty God, our Maker and Redeemer, we poor sinners confess to you that we are by nature sinful and unclean and that we have sinned against you by thought, word, and deed; therefore we flee for refuge to your boundless mercy, seeking and imploring your grace for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.

O most merciful God, since you have given your only begotten Son to die for us, have mercy on us and for his sake grant us forgiveness of all our sins; and by your Holy Spirit increase in us true knowledge of you and of your will and true obedience to your Word, to the end that by your grace we may come to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
